The text for the book PINTINHAS was created by the writer Márcia Namekata a few years ago, first in the form of index cards with text and drafts in felt-tip pen. She presented me with the idea and we agreed that I would do new roughs and a graphic project.
In 2022, we presented the project to the editor Tati Fulas of PandaBooks. the text was revised so that the questions presented to readers, throughout the story, were rounded up as part of a day in the life of the young character on the book.

The book O SACO was edited and published in 1984. Twenty years later, in 2004, Ivan and I presented the proposal for a new edition with new illustrations and minor adjustments to the text, in a new editorial project, authored by us in collaboration with the editors of Nova Fronteira. For this, we created two new titles, within the same narrative format, that of stories that begin with a question that is repeated throughout the book and is answered at the end of it.

Written in upper case letters, the books in the collection have, since their launch, been adopted in literary projects in schools throughout Brazil.

A BARCA DO CANOEIRO

Friend and writer Beto Furquim made the invitation: to illustrate a text that tells a new version of an old story and invites readers to find words within words. The pencil sketches were done on sunny mornings in São Bento do Sapucaí, a small village up in the Mantiqueira mountains. The partnership also included the editor Tati Fulas from PandaBooks who embarked with us on this Barca do Canoeiro!

ADORO LISTAS!

This book was created by many hands, by friends who became partners in a book. The idea for the story  came from the fact that in Portuguese the word "listas"has a double meaning. It is both graphic stripes and lists of things. On the book, this ambiguity is presented by two different characters who contradict each other throughout the book, but at the end, reach a consensus that they both love the same word: "Listas"!

O BLOCO

O BLOCO, which means musical get together during Carnaval time, presents numbers to beginner readers and it also shows elements of the Brazilian musical culture. Different percussion elements and different carnival costumes appear as the block advances. The book also includes pop-ups that reveal
the scenes in two stages.
The onomatopoeias of each instrument were created by
the composer Hélio Ziskind.

A CAIXA DE PANDURA

The illustrations take a ride on the humour, poetry and surrealist images that Mathilda and Sueli's text suggest. A super creative version of the myth of Pandora through a girl who wants everything for herself, kept under lock and key in her box.

PSIU!

The desire, when creating, the drawings and the text of this book was to observe the passage of time through the life cycle of a plant in the grove, which begins as a seed planted and watered and then becomes a trunk, branches and leaves. who shelter us in their shadow.

A PULGA E A DANINHA

The first edition of this book dates back to 1983, published by the cultural producer Lira Paulistana, based in the Pinheiros neighbourhood, in São Paulo. The book's text comes from a song of the same name, composed by Pedro Mourão, a member of Grupo Rumo, and it was transcribed from the vinyl record to the pages of the book that Ivan and I illustrated.

In 2010, we redid the illustrations and the book gained a new format and new edition, having been adopted, since then, in literary programs for schools throughout Brazil.
